Designer's Statement

"Chicago is one of the big cities in the US with two and a half million population. The location of DuSable Park is located in downtown Chicago surrounded by water which is proper to build a space where people would come and enjoy the multi-programs on the site.

Due to the condition of Chicago itself, there are many activities and landmarks that people should visit and I believe that with the location of DuSable Park, there can be the opportunity to expand activity and uniqueness within a compact size of space. Already there were a lot of parks in Chicago, so the first question that was raised to be the scope of designing this space is what should be on the site to create a difference? and how to make this tiny piece of land big in terms of the experience of the user, and how to sustain the relationship of the community.

The name of the project is CPPC or Creative Peninsula Park Chicago combining programs and activities within the space so people regardless of gender, age, or preference can come and enjoy time together. The space consists of 9 programs for people to explore such as art, performance, sports, community markets, and sightseeing spots that people who reside in Chicago or even tourists can visit this place. The main function of this space is the park, but what makes this park different from other parks is the engagement between people with different hobbies and the variety of activities that people could spend quality time on the site. The coloring of objects is used to bring lively emotions to the space and to be noticed as the emerging symbol of the city’s new space. CPPC will be the new landmark of Chicago where people can express themselves and enjoy time while residing in this city.
