Designer's Statement

My project acts as a prelude to my Final year project, it encompasses similar design elements and language like high volumes and wide spans of open space. Incorporating the use of brutalist and industrial influences to create a pavilion for people to stop and rest while enjoying picturesque views along the rail corridor.

A key stone feature of the pavilion is how skate friendly it is, almost all surfaces within the pavilion can be skated on. With smooth concrete floors and unidirectional seating fixtures, it creates an ideal skate spot for an amateur to expert skater. It includes a tunnel which can be used as a ramp or drop down which open up the options for multitudes of skating tricks.

Walls and fixtures have been placed to ensure the noise and view of the expressway towards the southwest is reduced and obstructed, protecting this little slice of nature from exterior intrusions. They also help to frame the greenery towards the
northeast when seated at the designated seating areas.
